  1. I have a co-worker who is Armenian by the name of Sermanoukian. I was looking for his LinkedIn profile, and when I googled his last name, I got very few hits, but Google told me that I ought to be searching for Manoukian instead. There was many more hits under Manoukian. It's no big deal (I found his profile, by the way), but I've been wondering ever since whether "Ser" is some sort of prefix, like "Mac" in Scottish names or "O'" in Irish names. I'm not Armenian, but I'm fascinated by name structures (have a friend from Iceland, and their name structure is unique). I was wondering if anyone here can shed any light on this subject. Thanks.
