Investigators established that the he fought against the federal forces in Chechnya in 2002-2004 as a member of an illegal armed formation headed by Ruslan Gelayev, the former defense minister of the Chechen rebel government killed in early 2004, as well as with Saudi mercenary Abu-Havs who reportedly sponsored the Beslan school seizure. A man in whose house the foreigner was hiding, has also been arrested.
