Not long ago, YOU and YOUR VOTE were the means whereby politicians were given power and wealth - something that they all seek. Nowadays, however, YOU are worth almost nothing to these politicians - because there is much more power and wealth being offered to them by hugely powerful corporations and international governing bodies over which you have absolutely no effective control. In other words, our politicians do not need to be concerned about you in order to do very well for themselves. On the contrary, it is in their interests to hand over your democracy, your culture, your country and your power to govern yourselves to those who have the wherewithal to reward them most handsomely.
