Humanoid
Spanish rider Viki Gómez is back at the top of the World Ranking! After his second place on the “King of Ground” in Yokohama this weekend (Final Round of the Flatland World Tour), he assured the first spot at this year World Championship. Two years ago, the legendary rider from Madrid was going to quit competitions. He didn’t find any motivation on contests, and was focused on demos, videos and traveling around the World with his teammate Martti Kuoppa. Viki’s conception of Flatland is more focused in creating new tricks, and believed contest back then didn’t push the sport in this direction. But after insisting he should keep on competing, trying to change the system from the inside, Viki agreed to attend big contests and showing the young guns who is still the boss. 2010: a great year for Viki Gómez This has been an exceptional year for Viki Gómez. Not only had he demonstrated others he could be back on the top of competition, but also has been able to break flatland traditional rules and integrate his amazing creativity into the sport through Red Bull Flamenco Flatland: a unique event coming out of his head, mixing flatland and music, inspiring 5 international riders to explore the links between two such different worlds as Flamenco and BMX Flatland. Viki has been around for a looong time… Back then he was one of the early year’s best riders, during the “golden years” of Flatland, when this sport was still on the X Games. He also has won the Red Bull Circle of Balance twice, and his creativity and riding style is one of the most respected ones all over the World. Amazing news he still has the passion to be the best one in competition too.
