Vardan
Rolling in Rome Amelie Mauresmo is looking strong in her bid to capture back-to-back titles at the Telecom Italia Masters Roma. The No.2 seed won in straight sets again on Thursday, this time defeating No.13 seed and local favorite Silvia Farina Elia, 64 63. No.6 seed Vera Zvonareva, No.8 Patty Schnyder, Francesca Schiavone and Evgenia Linetskaya also advanced into the quarter, while No.7 Nadia Petrova withdrew on Thursday due to a right thigh strain, giving four-time Rome champ Conchita Martinez a free pass into the next round.
