Other top seeds competing this week at Charleston include No.6 Vera Zvonareva, No.7 Nadia Petrova and No.8 Patty Schnyder. After her successful week at Amelia Island, No.12 seed Silvia Farina Elia will attempt to keep her clay-court success going as she takes on Jelena Kostanic in her first match of the week. Two-time champion Conchita Martinez, who fell to Venus Williams in last year's final, returns to Charleston once again and will take on Barbora Strycova in the first round. The Family Circle Cup - now in its 31st year - is one of the longest running tournaments on the WTA Tour. The other multiple winners of the event are Chris Event (8 times), Steffi Graf (4), Tracy Austin (2), Martina Hingis (2), Gabriela Sabatini (2) and Conchita Martinez (2).
