Zvonareva, Dechy Advance in Eastbourne

Both Vera Zvonareva and Nathalie Dechy (pictured) advanced in two sets at the $585,000 Hastings Direct International Championships in Eastbourne, England. No.5 seed Zvonareva defeated world No.30 Nicole Vaidisova 63 62. Nathalie Dechy, the tournament's eighth seed, blazed past British wildcard Amanda Janes, 61 61.

At the Ordina Open in 's-Hertogenbosch, 18-time Grand Slam singles champion Martina Navratilova made a rare appearance in the singles draw. She gave a formidable effort before falling to Luxembourg's Claudine Schaul 46 61 63.

Look Out Wimbledon, Here Comes Kim

In a perfect preparation for Wimbledon, former world No.1 Kim Clijsters (left) defeated Russian qualifier Vera Douchevina 75 60 Saturday to claim the Eastbourne title on debut. The Hastings Direct International Championships is Clijsters's 24th career title and third of 2005. Douchevina was making her Sony Ericsson WTA Tour finals debut.

Meanwhile, Klara Koukalova won her first Tour singles title in her sixth career final, defeating fellow Czech Lucie Safarova 36 62 62 to win the Ordina Open in 's-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands.
