Federer Defends Dubai

Roger Federer captured his third consecutive title at the Dubai Duty Free Men's Open with a 6-1, 6-7(6), 6-3 victory over Ivan Ljubicic. With the win, Federer regains his lead in the INDESIT ATP 2005 Race and extends his winning streak in ATP finals to an Open Era record of 16. It was Federer's third title of the year (Doha, Rotterdam) having defeated Ljubicic in all three finals. He now has a 20-1 record in 2005.

Meanwhile, at the Abierto Mexicano TELCEL in Acapulco, No. 8 seed Rafael Nadal raced to his second title in as many weeks when he blitzed fellow Spaniard Albert Montanes 6-1, 6-0 in Saturday night's final.
