Kars
The best translation of the word (կուրգան) into English is kurgan: http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/kurgans Kurgan is a man-made landmark, as opposed to hill.
paran
Thanks, Kars! I didn't realize that "kurgan" was used in English as well. Another question: how would you translate "համախոսական" (noun/goyakan) into English? I'm not quite sure what it means in Armenian, but it seems to have something to do with reports, agreements, or contracts. What do you think?

I'm not quite sure what it means in Armenian, but it seems to have something to do with reports, agreements, or contracts. What do you think? Hello, paran "համախոսական" is an outdated legal term, no longer in use. It’s a document, legalizing the decision (final verdict) of community lay representatives, or jury. I think the English equivalent will be Farmers Court Order Where do you find these weird words? Edited June 8, 2008 by Kars

paran
Hi there,I'm looking for the meaning of "հարճ"? My dictionary explains it as: "երկրորդական կին", but I don't understand the concept. Does it mean "secondary wife"? Or maybe "second wife"? What is the cultural implication of a secondary wife? Are we talking about polygamous relationships? Thanks for any help!
